The passing of George is very sad news for the town of Portarlington and way beyond. The tributes here say it all. Some men and women become the very essence of a community, their character and personality seeping into its very fabric, their lives remembered by all. George Cobbe was such a man. Lovely memories of his time in Fletchers and of seeing him at games with his old comrade Jacko Roycroft. Always a gentleman, always with a broad smile, he will be greatly missed. Rest easy George.
