Had the pleasure of working with George many years ago in the George mossop era . he was a great mentor and an even better human being .He was the face of fletchers hardware for a long time and his popularity was never ending . one of the towns good guys.REST IN PEACE George

The passing of George is very sad news for the town of Portarlington and way beyond. The tributes here say it all. Some men and women become the very essence of a community, their character and personality seeping into its very fabric, their lives remembered by all. George Cobbe was such a man. Lovely memories of his time in Fletchers and of seeing him at games with his old comrade Jacko Roycroft. Always a gentleman, always with a broad smile, he will be greatly missed. Rest easy George.

So very sorry at the passing of George. We both had the privilege of working with him in Smiths of Mountmellick many years ago and he was the lovliest gentleman one could ever meet. We were fortunate also to have visited hm at Oakdale just a couple of weeks ago and were met with his usual big smile. Rest in God's eternal care George.

whether in Fletcher Hardware or on the train to croke park it was always a pleasure to have a chat with George. He was a lover of all sport especially Gaa, Rugby, Cricket, Boxing and Athletics. There was no doubt *The Town was his team* and that Curley and Atch were his favourites .. George was liked and respected by all ; Condolences to his family and many friends .
