Dear Shelia,
I am truly very sorry to hear of your loss. I have lovely memories of meeting George on a few occasions, he was a true gentleman in every way and he brightened up my working day.
— Jacqueline Holmes
Our deepest sympathy on George’s passing. We became friends when I joined CTT in 1982 and his good humour and attempts to make me laugh, when I should not have, are amongst my many cherished memories of him. In recent years George and I would speak regularly by telephone and meet up to revel in the past, but more importantly discuss the issues of the day and the future. His values were spot on and he was often able to guide my thoughts on different subjects of the time both personal and professional. By serendipity George organised an EI event at which our son Cameron met his wife Sarah. George was not Mr. Everyman, he was simply himself: full of good values and caring about the rights of others. He will be sorely missed. God Rest His Soul.
— Steven Lee and family
Sincerest sympathy on the passing of George. We always had interesting meetings with E.I.
May he rest in peace

So sorry to hear about George. I only became acquainted with him fairly recently as my NUJ rep and though we spoke many times on the phone sadly I only got to meet him once. I found him charming and witty but above all sincere. From our conversations about family and football (we got sidetracked from unimportant things like work just occasionally) I know he was devoted to Sheila so I’m certain his passing will leave a massive void in her life. Sincere condolences to Sheila and anyone else lucky enough to have had George in their lives.
— Liam Heffron

So sad to hear of our former colleague, George's sad and untimely passing. Remembering the old days. Having served in CTT/EI Manchester office, we were pitched as "Reds" of opposite ardour. So the banter was always mighty. Especially on "winner" days. Always laced with his great Liverpool wit. Happy memories. We now walk alone. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP George.

Ever since we were little, uncle George would always do whatever he could to make us laugh. He was always fun, and funny and kind. And when I got older and spent time away, living abroad or travelling, George always made sure I knew who to contact if I needed any help. It was always reassuring, and a source of great comfort and security knowing he was on my side wherever I was.

For all of George's intellect and achievements, of which there are many, I will always remember him as my funny, caring and clever uncle, always with a joke or a prank and invaluable words of advice and support.

Rest in peace uncle George, never forgotten and loved always. Fiona xxx

Sincere condolences to you Sheila and the Brennan and Kiely families.George’s untimely passing leaves a huge void in the lives of all who loved him dearly. All we can hope for I suppose is that we may in some way be sustained by the many precious memories of him that we hold in our hearts.
My abiding memory is of a man blessed with a most wonderful sense of humour. His acerbic wit was razor sharp, honed to perfection; a master of wit and repartee par excellence! Much of his humour involved secondary school life to which my brother Paul and I could relate having attended the same Grammar school. George could engage in serious conversation but invariably we reverted to raucous laughter.
During the troubled times in our family’s lives George was a real stalwart with wise words and his comforting presence. He leaves a lasting imprint on our lives, a true one - off. Fiercely loyal to the Reds, L.F.C. is missing one of its greatest supporters. May he rest in peace.
