Sincere condolences to Gerry's family, friends and colleagues. I worked with Gerry prior to the opening and since then in Tallaght University Hospital. An amicable and engaging man. He liked a good story and chuckle. He loved history and indeed he loved and knew his Dublin. He was very supportive as Director of Finance to the personnel in the then Materials Management Department. He listened attentively and stood by any decisions you made or were going to take. An excellent analytical thinker. May Gerry Rest in Peace.

" For every one of us, living in this
world
means waiting for our end. Let
whoever can
win glory before death. When a
warrior is gone,
that will be his best and only
bulwark. "

Gerry, you were a brilliant, creative man who made a huge mark on Tallaght Hospital but also on the wider health service. You were often excitable, always enthusiastic, and often spoke at the same pace at which your brain worked, which was lightning fast.

You didn't suffer fools gladly, but there was always a mischievous twinkle in your eye. You loved to be a "thwart", as you would say yourself.

Most of all, you were kind and generous, a wonderful mentor, and decent to the core. You helped many people in their time of need. It was a joy to know you.

Sleep well, you won much glory before the end.
— Tim Delaney
Please accept our sincere condolences. Thinking of you all.

He was a great man to chat and could talk at length on any subject often ranging from economics and world politics to gardening and the weekly specials at Lidl.

I will buy a good bottle of wine today Gerry and will toast you, my absent friend.
