Gina O'Donnell

My deepest sympathy to all the family on the sad and untimely loss of Gina. My father Robert Galway worked with Gina’s father Phil in the ESB and we knew the family since then. My parents kept in touch with Claire over the years, and I chatted to Gina a few times in Hodges Figgis. A lovely lady.

Having been next-door-neighbours for a few years, I had not reached my teens when Gina and I travelled to Reykjavík in the late 1960s, following a generous invitation from good friends. She kept a discreet eye on me, in spite of my resistance to being "minded". I remember, with gratitude, her great gentleness. I hope Gina's children take comfort in the appreciation that others feel for their time with Gina, be it short or long.

Ben, Zoe, Oran, and all the O'Donnell family, please accept my most sincere condolences on your loss. I loved Gina so very, very much.

I did business with Gina over many years and always found her so full of humanity. May she rest in peace.

Very sad to hear of Gina's death. I remember her from my Fred Hanna days and latterly with Dubray. She was lovely. Sincere sympathy to you all.

I knew your mum for many many years , as we have both worked in the book trade for so long. Gina was without doubt one of the nicest people you could meet, always smiling, always chatty and just great to have around. We had quite a few “bookseller” evenings and she was always great company. We will miss her from the trade not only for her knowledge of the book trade, but just for being so nice. My sincerest sympathies to you all.

My deepest condolences to Ben, Zoe, Oran and family. I worked with Gina at Hodges Figgis and then called on her as a sales rep. As a manager and friend she was supportive, helpful and fun to work with. I remember many long chats in The Duke or on the train home to Greystones and laughs at friends get togethers. As a buyer she was oh so tolerant and patient! We lost touch when I moved to the UK, but I last saw her a few years ago at a retirement do, and it was like we’d only seen each other the day before. You, her children, were her proudest achievement and she loved you dearly.
