My deepest belated sympathies to Niall Conal and Aoife and their families on the passing of your beloved father Gus. Our condolences to your mum also. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this dificut time. I trust you will be comforted by the echos of the voice of your father when you hear the tring of wires on harboured masts in the evening breeze, calling to you, "Safe home, safe home". He has gone into the west.

Sincere condolences to all the Henry family. I have very fond memories of Gus’ expertise and kindness to me and to all novices during his time at Sligo yacht club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dílis.
— Íde Hickey and family
1974 was my first "away" event in a Fireball when the championships were hosed by Sligo Yacht Club with Gus Henry as officer of the day and what a great event. Gus's sense of fun ensured we were entertained ashore and that us tent campers had whatever we might require. Memories of Gus's hospitality and stewardship of the event was an early lesson in what makes for a successful regatta. Over the years I would see Gus's name referred to in various event reports and I would know a report of a good regatta in the hands of Gus would have been a great event. A energetic servant to sailing will be missed across the country by many who had the pleasure of sailing in an event under Gus's management. R.I.P.

Nial, Conal and Aoife, On behalf of the members of Galway Bay Sailing Club ,I offer you and your families our sympathy and remember fondest respect for Gus. What wonderful memories you all must have through the history of Sligo sailing from its earliest years.
I will always remember Gus arriving at Galway harbour back in 1971 to support our very first regatta . We kept in touch for many years when he was working in Dublin and would drop in when passing Oranmore. His contribution to Irish Sailing and keeping Sligo on the national and international map with a great close team was incredible. Always great fun and very much a part of Irish sailing. God Bless you Gus.
Keep Sailing guys.
