Dear Perry family,
My sincere sympathy on the decease of your beloved Harry.
In 1952 at Terenure College I was returning on a Monday morning to class after yard break with perhaps 150 boys aged between 12 and 18. Our hero Harry, who had won the national boxing title the previous Saturday was in our midst. Fr. Clarke, a severe but scrupulously fair Dean of Discipline was policing the corridor and spotted Harry’s conspicuous black eye. He called Harry out of the crowd.
"Have you been fighting again Perry?". "Yes Father".
You could hear a pin drop.
"Good boy. Keep it up".
John Cronin

So sad to hear of Harry's passing. As a young boy, he was among my heroes with Freddy Gilroy, Johnny Caldwell and Fred Tiedt, so it was such a joy in later life to get to know him, golf with him in France, Wales and Ireland and discover what a wonderful, friendly, joyful and gentle spirit lay within him.
