Dear Helen, I shall always remember the good family times we had at Tom & Thelma’s over the years and the kindness you showed especially to dad after mum died. I am still in shock that you are no longer with us but rest assured you are in a far better place. I think and pray for you as I hope you will for all of us. May you rest in peace with the Lord.

I was very saddened to hear of Helen's sudden passing. Though far away she was a cherished member of the family. I will remember her as a strong and stylish woman, loyal and fun-loving.

The last time we saw each other was at my wedding in August 2019 - I was grateful and humbled that she travelled so far to be with us on our special day.

I will always have fond memories of the times spent together when Helen visited us in London, and our holiday to Los Angeles a few years back - she really looked after us and showed us a great time. Helen was a woman who liked things done properly - I remember her taking my on my first visit to Harrods aged around 8 or 9, and taking tea and cakes in the Waldorf in Covent Garden. She was loving, generous and loyal, and loved regular catch-ups on the phone. She enjoyed hearing about and seeing photos of my daughter Eloise, who is now aged 6 months and who sadly she never got to meet in person.

Helen regularly requested letters, drawings and paintings from me as a child, and saved these up to be returned to me as a gift on my 18th birthday - an example of her great thoughtfulness and generosity.

We will cherish great memories of Helen and she will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace.

Dear Auntie Helen, you were and are a beautiful lady and such a character! loved your style and sass. loved that you were a nurse as well and have been all over the world!

The last time we saw you, I booked you in for a blow dry and we danced the night away at Rachel’s wedding.

Never new much about your life but always thought you were such an interesting and clever lady. You were loved by your friends and family. You will be missed and it’s hard to believe what has happened

so glad you got to see the boys and I’m sure you will be watching over us all.

Lots of love

I extend sincere condolences and sympathy to all relatives and friends of Helen Stokes. I am on the board of directors of the condo association where Helen lived in the Los Angeles area. Besides serving as a former boardmember herself, she was an outspoken and enthusiastic member of our community and her contributions prolific. She was also a dear friend to me. Helen showed boundless courage in recent months overcoming serious orthopedic injuries she suffered, during which time she never failed to offer support to others. Helen was an astute observer of the world around her, and could be counted on to offer calming analysis of our troubled world. We sure shall miss her. (bergerphoto@aol.com)
