According to Harry, Rouge Helen 'hit the ground running' when she courageously left the convent after 20 years. With her beautiful (undyed) red hair and her stylish autumnal colours, she graced every occasion with warmth and self deprecating fun. Given my sense of loss, I feel deeply for the Whelehan family who are without two devoted sisters.
— Jenny Rice

Such a shock. Helen was a wonderful cousin to me.
We had a great time when she drove me to the Irish west coast for a holiday one year. Her sense of humour was fantastic. After my stroke in 2018 she was so sensitive to my needs and visited me in rehab hospital often. I hoped to get to Ireland to visit her again. So sad. May she have eternal rest.
She deserves it owing to her generous spirit.
