She was a lovely lady and a very kind and caring teacher, who never forgot her native county and loved to engage 'as Gaeilge' when ever possible.

Sinead, John and James, I am so sorry to hear of the sudden death of your wonderful mother. I remember how kind and helpful she was to me when I started teaching alongside her In Presentation Primary School Portarlington. She was a very kind and dedicated teacher and had a wonderful way with the young children in her care. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

O'Dempseys GAA Club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Whelehan family on the sudden passing of Helen. She will be sadly missed on Monday nights in our clubhouse, where without fail every week she would be there playing Bridge and dropping in her weekly Lotto tickets.

Unfortunately because of the worsening situation due to Covid we were unable to acknowledge Helen's great service to our club with a Guard of Honour.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Sinéad, John, James and the extended Whelehan Family at this very sad time. We also remember Helen’s husband Michael Whelehan at this time. Go bhfanfaidh siad i suaimhneas.
