Condolences to Hubert's family and wide cirlce of friends. Hubert was a man of extrordinary dignity, compassion, humility, talent and warmth. He had a way of being a big presence in a room even though he didn't ask for the attention - people were just drawn to his friendly ways. His beaming smile and hearty chuckle was a welcome addition to any gathering. There was a depth to his passion for progressing the inclusion of people with disabilities and while committees may not have been his first love - he sat through many thousands of hours of meetings/webinars/seminars/protests/conferences and demonstrations in order to make progress for the greater good. Rest in peace Hubert and it was nice to have interacted with you along life's path.
— Michael Ryan

Hubert - a rare and unforgettable name - and in observing the child Hubert grow into a strong hearted, mature and dignified human being - it felt a satisfying and noteworthy matter.

But then witnessing the effort and courage involved in Hubert finding and refining his authentic voice and creativity - it became more a matter of collective recognition and public respect.

Further, when one considered Hubert's steadfast courage at facing the adversity he and other citizens of Ireland, needed to confront - through forging their own forms of organisation, activism and political campaigning - and to be successful in the pursuit of equality and human rights - one is left a little speechless.

For this Hubert was a warrior, a bard, an extraordinary loyal friend who - deeply sad at the passing of so many of his contemporaries - is now transitioning into their shared luminosity beyond the eye and scope of language.

Their legacy and spirit is inviolate - another song please Hubert

Hubert was in his teens and I was assisting him on a day in the Zoo, a warm May day. As I look back he was then as he has continued to be, an open friendly person, seeing the good side and just so interested in others no matter who they were.
That has been his lifetime signature. What a precious gift he gave to all who knew him and I suspect he will be missed by some in ways we cannot easily understand.
May his gentle presence and good soul rest in peace.
But, as for playing cards, well I'll say no more!!!!
