My deepest condolences to all Hugh’s family on his sad loss. Hugh was a man of great wisdom and integrity. He loved a good story and told an even better one. He enlightened the lives of teachers and pupils in the Comp and earned total loyalty and admiration from many. With much gratitude Hugh, I’m the better for having known you.

I'm so sad to hear of Hugh's passing. He was a pioneer of education and he and his colleagues who launched the Comp lit the road ahead for generations of Irish teachers. He was also a lovely gentle man with an inimitable sense of humour with unique ability to deliver the punch line. There a precious few people who make a real positive difference to the lives of young people and Hugh was one of those precious few. I will remember him very fondly.
