Greg,Catherine and family, our condolences on the passing of your mother Irene. May she Rest in Peace.

Gregory,Eugene,Damien and Grace, I was saddened to hear of the death of Irene and that I missed the opportunity to attend her funeral. Irene and Frank were friends of my late parents,Paddy and Kay Ryan since the days of Waterford and Powers Seeds,and continued when the Carleys moved to Cork and the Ryans to Killarney. Irene was always very kind to me from the first time she told me to call her ‘Irene’ instead of the ‘Mrs Carley’ I’d been instructed! While you still lived in Waterford and I was a boarder in Ferrybank,she regularly visited me there and brought precious ‘treats’ ! Later, when I was a poor student in UCC, I was often invited to Firgrove for a meal, which meant a lot!
I’ve been meaning to make contact again but sadly it was always put on the ‘tomorrow’ list and now it’s too late. I remember you all as babies, and that precious white and pale blue sitting room in your Newtown home! I’m sure there are photos here of it!
So many memories- her first car and the excitement of that, dolls clothes made for me, staying in your house while mom was in hospital having my ‘baby’ brother Adrian,and the lovely packed lunches she gave me those days. (Your dad was his god-father)
Please be assured that she will never be forgotten.
I trust that she is happily reunited with her beloved Frank and that she has had a catch-up with the Ryan’s.
May they all rest in eternal peace.
