It was with great pleasure that I worked with Jas, as a loyal colleague, both in Cobh and Union Quay.
We both shared West Cork and Kerry connections.
He was an exemplary sportsman and an inspiration to us all.

On behalf of all in Kerry GAA I wish to convey our deepest Condolonces to the Murphy family on the passing of Jas. As Kerrys All Ireland winning Captain in 1953 Jas held a special place in the memories of so many people and the high regard that everone had for him was very evident from those I spoke to on the morning of his Funeral mass. At this years Kerry County Football Final between Jas's original Club Kerins O' Rahillys and Austin Stacks, a minutes silence was observed in his memory. All our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

It was my first such situation when Jas who was stationed in Cobh at the time came on the scene. He gave me such advice, that was the best I ever got and used several times afterwards. I am so so sorry to hear of the passing of Jas. I think my heart used to do a wee jump for joy when I would see him on his visits to Dublin. He was such a gentleman and was a great storyteller about his time in AGS and his times with Kerry and Cork on the GAA field.
