Our Sincere sympathies to all the extended Hanlon family. You did Jimmy proud at the dignified funeral mass. My father Sidney senior, had great respect for Jimmy when they worked hand in glove in the GPO during the 60s/70s. Jimmy was always so patient and good humoured with us telegram boys when we left our Post Office motorbikes with him for repair. Any of those boys I met in adult life had the same affection and admiration for Jimmy. Our only regret is we didn't get around to meeting up with Jimmy before his health failed.

Our deepest condolences to Eddie, Marie, Dolores, Antoinette, David and all your families.

Jim was truly one of life’s greats! He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Jim is a great inspiration on how to life your life.

Happy, full of laughs, stress free, with humility and lots of love

Jim and Bridie gave their families and friends the most valuable thing they possessed, their time! They never missed a beat. Attended all our family events big and small. Christmas cards, baby gifts and birthday presents were never forgotten. He was so generous with his life.

We have lots of great memories of Jim through the years and I know our family events will never be the same without him there

Driving at 95, cracking the jokes and visiting his friend in hospital last year (albeit from outside the window) says a lot to me about the character he was.

He was so full of life and energy I felt he would live forever.

He is in Bridies arms once again.

All our love

Dear Eddie, Marie, Dolores, Antoinette, and David..Myself and Fred were so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing..He was one of life true gentleman. Always with a smile on his face and genuinely interested in everyones well being. He did break my heart many years ago..Id saved so hard for my first car. a fiat 600. A very long story but ran out of petrol and bought a tank full in the local garage. for some unknown reason to this day..Petrol was put into oil tank and I blew my engine..My car belonged to me for 5 days. Even Jim couldn't fix it.. He tried to reason with me but try console a 20 year old about that..We laughed about it afterwards. Fond memories..Thinking of you all at this difficult time. We are greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Jim. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Jim was the perfect club member - smartly dressed with his signature cap, always on time (just), polite, fast around the course and very entertaining with his one liners! and he was a very talented player too. Jim always enjoyed the banter at the Sunday morning competitions.

Jim will be fondly remembered by all in the club. May he rest in peace!

— The Fellowship Of Hanlon Ex Pats
To our cousins Eddie, Marie, Dolores, Antoinette, David and all their families,
our deepest sympathies. Hearing of Jim's passing, although expected, felt like losing a limb. We can barely remember a time when he and Bridie weren't part of our lives, always kind, caring, supportive, full of great humour and high spirits...although Jim did once serve us his Christmas Irish Coffee WITHOUT the whiskey! But then, he always did have a joke at the ready.
A lovely, wonderful, joyous man. May he rest now with Bridie in the bosom of the Lord.
