Blathnaid

I want to echo the many tributes that have been paid to James.

I first worked with James nearly twenty years ago, and his passion for his work and his integrity stood out from the start. James was a huge contributor to the IAPF, and it was a source of great pleasure to me personally to observe the growth and success of Trustee Decisions over the years. It is easy to forget at this point how bold and far sighted a decision it was for James to set up Trustee Decisions at the time, and to focus on the development of pension governance in Ireland. Of course James had studied the area deeply, and his analysis proved absolutely right and prescient. He leaves a huge legacy in the pensions sector in Ireland, but also among his many colleagues and friends. I will miss him greatly, and Linda and I extend our deepest sympathies to you, Megan and Aaron.

May James rest in peace.
— Peter Fahy
Blathnaid, my heartfelt condolences to you, Megan, Aaron, the entire Kavanagh family and all in Trustee Decisions. James lived life with endless energy, gusto and commitment to high standards. He may well have packed two lives into his one, sadly too short, life. His courage, dignity and dedication to his clients was remarkable, only surpassed by his obvious love for, and devotion to, you, Megan and Aaron. He spoke of you all with such great pride. I am so sorry for your loss and I am thinking of you. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Our sincerest condolence to Blathnaid, Aaron and Megan on the untimely death of Jim. We only really knew Jim for a few short years before and during his marriage to our niece Theresa RIP. Jim was one of life’s true gentlemen, compassionate and caring. We had seen the Notice on the back of The Irish Times and were struck by the lovely sentiments, not knowing at the time that it was from Jim to Blathnaid. May he rest in peace.

What a loss and tragedy that Jim had to leave us too early.

His joy de vivre, vitality, generosity and passionate love for his family was palpable and will leave a big gap behind.

He will be welcomed into Heaven.

Spring is here and life will continue but it will be diminished by Jim’s absence.

A fine man, a great father and a loving husband.

Our thoughts ring out to my beloved sister Blathnaid and my niece Megan and nephew Aeron
