I would like to express my deep condolences to Jim's family - I was a RAPID Co-ordinator in the early days and Jim had a precious knack/gift of staying calm and making people laugh - out loud! - in stressful situations. Rest in Peace Jim. X
— Daire Gilvary (Nic Eoin)
I am sorry to be so late in adding my tribute but I wanted to add a few words from a fellow aviation enthusiast. Although I did not know Jim well, I met him from time to time at various aviation events in Casement and Weston. In fact just last July I shared a viewing point with him looking towards the threshold of runway 29 at Casement watching all the comings and goings for the Bray airshow. Jim was a man of few words but he was able to comment knowledgeably on all the aircraft arriving and departing. I also admired his many articles in "Flying In Ireland" where he wrote in such depth regarding Irish defence and aviation policy. He was a man of many talents and generous in sharing his enthusiasms with all in plane watching circles. May he rest in peace. LK

Had the pleasure to work with Jim for many years quietly spoken yet well able to hold his own .
His hobby was planes not one I understood but I think in a previous life he might have liked to have been an engineer and perhaps flying for the RAF on some mission during World War 2. Fly High Jim
