I am very sorry to learn of Jim's death. I worked with him at important moments of my broadcasting career, including my first ever radio broadcast when I produced him on "Weekend Roundabout" and the Jacobs Award-winning "Listen and See" (for and about people with impaired vision). I admired and respected Jim's good humour, meticulous professionalism, intelligence, sonorous voice, crystalline diction and authoritative delivery. I offer my sympathy to Anne, James, Ian, Clíona, John and the entire family, for their very sad loss.

I was very sad to hear of the death of Jim. I have always admired him with his presence and smile and not one bit *full of himself*. I watched The Mass on my laptop and enjoyed the lovely music also. When James mentioned that his Dad loved The West I was happy to hear that because I was born in Co. Mayo and now live in Sandymount.. At the end when Clíona quoted from Bob Dylan "Make you feel my love" which her Dad loved I could not keep back the tears. I am a big Bob Dylan fan also. Rest in peace Jim. "Forever Young". Noreen.

Having worked with Jim on a number of Olympic games down through the years, I was really sorry to hear of his recent death.
I particularly remember working with Jim, at the 2004 Olympics in Athens on the Opening Ceremony and Swimming. His attention to detail was remarkable, reflected in a visit to the Greek Embassy in Athens, to make sure he had the correct pronunciation of Greek dignitaries who would feature during the Opening Ceremony.
He was great company, a true professional,
and a reliable source of advise.
Rest In Peace Jim.
