Only found out today that Jimmy had passed away, i was beyond shocked. Was in the belfry to fix the wifi and the ladies there told me the news. I met Jimmy 2 years ago and never have i met a nicer person, a straight shooter and a great businessman. I will miss him dearly. Rip Jimmy 🙏

Sending my condolences to the Lyons. Words cannot express the sadness you're feeling right now and the Nguyens are all thinking of you.

Jimmy was an amazing man, so welcoming, full of big laughs and terrible jokes. I'll always remember Marcos 30th, and how he welcomed me into his home with open arms.

The Nguyens will always remember how Jimmy sneakily paid the bill in Sydney when we were trying to pay for him instead! What a night that was! So much red wine, so many funny stories and so much laughter.

The memories we have means that we are truly blessed for having Jimmy in our lives.

We are all thinking of all the Lyons right now. We will raise a glass of red wine to celebrate his life when we're together next. And in true Lyons style, maybe more than 1 glass.
— Phuong Nguyen (Be)

My condolences to all of you. I will always be thankful for the amazing support Jimmy showed us in one of our hardest times. He was the best friend Dave could have asked for.
I can see the two of them reunited, sharing a glas of wine.

I was so shocked to hear of Jimmy's death, he was one of life's great characters, so full of fun with such a zest for life. His kindness and generosity was endless and his family were his pride and joy.

I feel very fortunate that our paths crossed, rest in peace Jimmy.

As children we adored Jimmy. He was one of our most favourite adults to see and spend time with.

So much fun to be around. There were times when we never knew whether to take him seriously or not, or whether or not to believe him. Like when he would ring up and tell us we were looking well, explaining that on the telephone in his house, that he could see us talking to him live on a screen... Really, we wondered?... We could have easily imagined it... Why not? He could easily have had something like that amidst all the cool things in his house...

We didn't know many people who ran a successful business, drove a fancy Saab, enjoyed good wine, travelled and went skiing... He was so generous in how he approached life. We loved spending time with him in his various homes intrigued by marble floors, a jar filled to the brim with coins, a silver antique cash register, a video recorder with endless episodes of Fawlty Towers, Not the nine o'clock news, The Kenny Everett Show, and Monty Python. Programmes we didn't get to see and adored watching, children and adults alike... And the laughter... Oh my goodness the laughter.. And the card games...

Thank you Jimmy for teaching us how to approach life, how to work hard for what you get and to value it, to treat everyone equally and with respect and to not take life too seriously.

Thank you for being part of our family.

Keep that mischevious glint in your eye and keep laughing Jimmy..

You were the best friend to us.

My dearest Viktoria Jenny Marco Nina.
I want to express my huge sorrow and sadness
at hearing the news of Jimmy's departure from this world into the next.
I always remember Jimmy as the happy-go-lucky,
carefree, fun-loving and witty Dad bringing his children to music....and I remember thinking.... what a supportive and wonderful Dad he is. ! And he always had a beaming smile painted on his face..especially when making a witty or droll remark! He made everyone laugh!
I know you are hurting, and that you are filled with sorrow..because now your wonderful Dad and husband Jimmy is not around you in body.....but he is certainly around you in spirit. And always will be.
Please be assured of our thoughts and prayers to help you through each day.
Take good care.

Sincere sympathy to Victoria and family on the sad passing of Jimmy. I knew Jimmy as a fellow landlord in Shanowen Hall for c 20 years. I found him to be highly honourable and a thorough gentleman. Although he was critical of certain management practices, he never stood in the way of the majority of fellow landlords and his views were always treated with respect. May he rest in peace.

Jimmy held a very important place in my happy childhood. We watched Monty python, not the nine o clock news and played hilarious games of knock knock in blackrock. Myself and my kids still play knock knock - “Jimmy Lyons style” which brings us great joy. Such a kind and funny man. He took myself, my sister Faith and all the local kids from blackrock on a bus to see ET the movie, It was the first film I had ever seen at the cinema. It was wonderful to reunite two years ago when I was home from New Zealand, after losing touch for nearly 30 years. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Love to all the family in this sad time.
