I was very sad to hear about the passing of James. We worked together in McGinley Engineering in Gweedore for 3-4 years back in the 1990's and he would stay in my home when the Christmas Party nights would be on. My sincere condolences to his wife, daughter and his wider family. James was always a gentleman when i was in his company and may God look after him 🙏 RIP my friend

I visited James when I learned of his diagnosis. I dreaded the visit as I didn't know what to say. Right away I addressed the "elephant in the room" and James said to me in his calm and direct James manner "It is what it is". He went on to say that his faith allowed him to accept what was handed to him. That allowed me to relax and enjoy the great company and the lovely cake and tea that Michelle served up for us. I was in awe of his determination to remain independent and to remain in this world for as long as he possibly could. He didn't want to add to the suffering of those closest to him. He fought til he could fight no more but didn't pick any old time to leave this world - he picked Easter weekend, a time when nature is waking up after its winter sleep. Was this his and God's way of showing Michelle that a whole new life awaits her where his presence will never be far away?
