Sincere condolences to Helen and James siblings and extended family.

We always enjoyed hosting Guernsey Gaels and going there to play in Guernsey where James always made sure we were treated like loyalty. Memories of the best European tournaments with James getting the 'after party' into full swing. Den Haag - Brendan Maloney Memorial with them attending the second in 1997 and for many years, Black Stuff 7's, Paris Gaels and Guernsey 7's. Gaelic Football lives on and grows annually because of James Mullen one of the founding fathers of County Europe in the Marriott Hotel in November 1999. R.I.P. James.

I'm sorry to hear of James's death . I got to know him through a mutual friend John Lindsey and my brother Sean. We met for a number of the Irish, English Internationals during the noughties.
In 2002 we were at Twickenham and were badly beaten by England, having beaten them in Dublin the previous October.
After the O2 match most of us were keeping our heads down following the embarrasing defeat. We were in a small pub afterwards near the ground in the gents with about ten English supporters in their Barbour jackets, when James turned around to them and sais "I'll give you one thing. That team you had out there today was an improvement on the shower you sent to Dublin last October" no embarrasment there. Absolutely brilliant.
