Such a sweet and funny woman, with a wonderful nature and a huge, generous heart, she was always extremely kind to me (and to my mother), and I feel privileged to have counted her as a friend. Janet Dunham Banville--known for her delicious cooking, welcoming ways, ironic sense of humor, keen intelligence, and principled opinions--will be sorely missed by many. Who could not admire her grace, practicality, and ability to carry on through adversity? Among the grieving are her friends in St. Louis, her hometown. Wonderful, wonderful Janet, we had so hoped for one more visit.
