All of us at UCD in 1973-1976 reading English/French/Spanish/History will remember Jean as a vibrant and colourful young woman in her prime. Lots of fun always in her company - and especially all the wine we drank at the Spanish Society. I followed her later life in Paris from a distance and enjoyed her contribution to 'L'Imaginaire C'est L'Irlande' when I last saw her, sharing her love of that country to this day. How short life is! Nous penserons souvent a elle a l'avenir! Finola

Dear Derry & Family,
So sorry to hear of Jean's passing, my sincere condolences. I'm so disappointed that I'll be unable to attend the ceremony at the CCI as I'll be in Ireland. Hope to see you in Paris sometime.

Dear Derry and family,

I knew Jean since I met her on my first day in a new school, Sacred Heart, Monkstown. She was a very cross six year old that day - I have an abiding memory of her standing on the school steps in the rain whilst we were both waiting to be collected, absolutely refusing to pick up her hankie. Clearly she made a big impact on me! We met up again a couple of years later in Loreto Dalkey and went from there. She is one of the few people I have ever known who was never afraid to have a bash, never worried about what people might think, always full of fun, always generous hearted, always entertaining. In a nutshell, she embodied "joie de vivre". In Paris, she found her spiritual home, and with you, her family, her happiness. We will all feel her loss. Mary Lou x
