So sad to hear of the sudden passing of this great man. We had great chats together. He was always so friendly. He'll be greatly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis! So sorry to his family, Lorraine and his wide circle of friends for his loss especially his sons Sean and Joseph.

My Uncle Jer was a rogue, and lived up to the good and the bad of such a title. Had the stars aligned differently he could have been a contemporary of Brendan Behan, or Richard Harris, railing against inequities and setting the world to rights over a pint.
He was an incredibly creative and artistic person, and like many who have artistry in their soul, sometimes the world can be overwhelming for them. He was the first person to ever show me that men could cook, and cook very well. Before that I thought there were chefs, who wore big hats and worked in hotels and then everything else was cooked by your Mum, but everyone raved about what a great cook my Uncle Jer was and it must have planted a seed in my young mind.
Even in a family of talkers and story tellers he was famed for his wit, I never met someone who knew my uncle who didn't have a story of time he had them and others roaring with laughter. The ability to make people laugh is the ability to shine a light into their life, if only for a moment, and make them feel better, it is a rare gift and it is one my Uncle Jer had in abundance

So sorry to hear of the untimely passing of our friendly, kind neighbour. Jerome was very welcoming to my new collie puppy this summer - reminded him of his dog, Prince, from days of yore. The wild bird visitors to Jerome's garden were always well fed and watered.
