Well Jim boy you fought the good fight, but sadly you have pucked the last ball. Boy I loved pucking those balls as we chatted hurling, you being a biased Tipperary man and me a totally biased Kilkenny man. But in fairness we secretly admired opposing talents even though you dispaired with Tipp in the last few years. You were such a great friend Jim Hickey a friendship I as well as your fellow Butlers friends, John, Tony Liam and Mike will remember and value for ever. I know you really valued ther friends you had made within the Butlers Family.
As I told you many times, you were one lucky man to meet that beautiful kind and caring lady Frances. All your Butlers family ( and we are family) witnessed first hand the attention and care she gave you over the past 4 years or so as you struggled with illness. Watching her spending hours meticulously counting out your dozens of tablets and placing in the many tablet boxes you had, to ensure you took your regular doses.
Rest assure Jim that we will look after Frances and check in on her regularly, because if we did'nt, we know you would come back and haunt us. Rest easy Friend, you were a Legend in your own life time.
Condolence's to all the Hickey family and Frances on the passing of a great man Jim Hickey, gone but never forgotten.

Sincere sympathies to Ailbhe Deirdre Seamus Bridie Anne and the rest of Jim's extended family and large circle of friends on Jim's untimely passing. Nothing but good memories of Jim since we first met in Ballagh many moon's ago. Manys the good craic at Cork and Tipp games down the years win loose or draw. I can only imagine the craic upstairs now poor old JC having to listen to Jim's embellished stories of Tipp successes and then good old Jimmy Hayes breaking into song before Jim had a chance to finish his story. Farewell my old friend may you get the best seat in the place you've earned it as for us somehow Cork and Tipp games won't be the same without you .Your good friend Val .
