Very sorry to hear of the loss of one of the great characters of the Morriscastle road. There would be no point in being in a hurry if you bumped into Jim, he’d always have a story or a yarn to spin. He was a great friend to the Sinnott family over the years and grew the best carrots in Wexford.

To Kathy and all of Jim's family our sympathy on his passing. He was an interesting man indeed and will always be remembered for giving us our beautiful "Russian Blue"kitten, which grew so well and we treasured for many years.

Very sad to hear of Jim’s passing. He was a wonderful character and a huge part of Morriscastle. He had great kindness and a huge love for his locality, his county, the nature around him and above all his family and friends.

It was always lovely to call by and see him diligently at work in the shed and garden, enriching chats with his immense knowledge of horticulture, handiwork, the sea and the tides. He loved a good anecdote and the roadside banter would last hours. In years past, if his late cousin Jim Redmond’s Hillman Hunter was spotted outside, you’d know “the term” would be happening at Jim’s shed.

Growing up in the 1980s, so many summer evenings were spent in Jim’s company, either chatting on the road outside his house, or when he came to ours to cut grass. When I was very small, it was super-exciting to hear the Fordson tractor and mower starting up outside. If past my bedtime, I’d sometimes clamber out the window in pajamas to catch the banter and goings on.

How very sad it was that he lost so many of his Morriscastle friends in untimely fashion. Certainly they’ll be reunited and sharing a few wisecracks together this weekend. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
