Sincere sympathy to Cathal and the wider Rodgers family on Jim’s passing. While stationed in Blackwater, Wexford, he played for the local St Brigid’s GAA Club (1948-52) in both hurling and football. During that time he played senior football for Wexford and Leinster and he was a household name across the country. Such a gentleman at heart always enjoyed calling down to Shannonbridge to visit my great grand uncle Jim, wife Esther and son Cathal when I was a young lad with my grandfather your brother Paddy and never wanted to leave to go back home to Dublin. I remember the face I used to have on the way back home in the car with my father and grandfather when I hear it was a time leave! Always enjoyed my stay during the Summer holidays with you's all. Such a talented GAA footballer Jim was with All Ireland medals won amongst many others. Jim many a time brought myself down to the football field in Shannonbridge and showed me many a trick on how to improve my game. May you RIP Jim now reunited with Esther and them all up there rest well from us all now residents of Co. Cavan sending our sincere condolences on to you Cathal take care from myself Peter, my partner Annmarie and my mother & father Pj & Angela.
