50 years ago we met when we worked in Creation and then met up again in 1986 in the Times. With Joe Mooney what you saw was what you got. A thorough gentleman who quite easily earned the respect of everyone he came into contact with. His lovely manner and ready smile coupled with his honesty, integrity and knowledge made him a wonderful companion colleague throughout our many years working together in The Irish Times.
