I have the most wonderful memories of Joe as my boss when I worked in Halliday’s in the Demesne.

Some Saturday mornings when working overtime, as a very special treat, Joe would bring in his record player along with LP’s of one of his favourite male singers, Perry Como.

He’d have us all singing along to “Catch a falling star” & many others. Thank you Joe for all those unforgettable “Magic Moments “

May your kind, funny & genius of a soul, Rest In Eternal Peace.
— Kate & Tommy McEnteggart

I was in Milltown Park, a Waterford supporter, on that fateful day all those years ago. The score was 3-1 to Waterford and they were coasting, with nine minutes to go and the whole Waterford outfielders camped in the Dundalk half. They looked like a shoe-in. One of the Dundalk defenders kicked the ball out of the penalty area and in the direction of this guy in an open space on the left wing. He let fly a speculative lob in the direction of the Waterford goal. I can still see the floating ball. Jimmy Dwyer in the goal, with the sun at his back and an easy save, fumbled the ball and all hell broke broke loose. The rest doesn't bear thinking about.
Many years later Joe told me that it was he who lobbed that fateful strike

Heartfelt sadness when I heard of Joe's passing. From an early age Joe was always there encouraging me about all things musical. He was so supportive and gave me very many happy experiences singing with his lovely sister Kitty in the town hall. The light in his eyes and love of life was always there.
