Joe McCabe

I met Joe last summer in his cottage. He cleared a chair and invited me me sit down by the open fire.
To me, he was a total stranger but introduced by a mutual friend.
He stoked the fire in the hearth and as the conversation flowed so did the warmth of this man to my heart.
Our birthdays, it turned out, were a week apart. Although our lives were profoundly different, I felt a kinship with this man and sorry to receive the news of his demise.
Glad to have had that glimpse of his gentle soul.
May he rest in peace.

Very sad to hear of Joe's passing. Before our children started school they would always know the sound of Joe's tractor coming into the village and would ask to go out to wave to joe as they knew they would get that friendly smile and wave back. A simple thing in life that ment a lot for two young children. A true gentleman. Rest in peace joe.
