What a kind, fun, gentle, straight-talking and thoughtful lady Vena was. She had that ever present twinkle in her eye which was so appealing.

I especially enjoyed meeting her during the many jovial visits to Newgardens- where Vena chatted and laughed with us all equally, young and old.

Vena was a great conversationalist who enjoyed the company of all generations. She was so full of fun and banter during her visits with my mammy, the laughter was contagious, especially when the mischievous smile appeared. They both so enjoyed each others company.

I was very sorry to read of Vena's death. I have great memories of many stories and hearty laughs over the past 30yrs at Brenda's and Conor's table next door. She brought friendship and neighbourliness in the door with her and will be sadly missed. My heartfelt sympathy to you AB on the heartbreaking loss of your Mum. She loved you dearly and always spoke so warmly about you. May she now rest in peace.

From the first day I met this lady. Which was probably mid 70s always found her to be the nicest most genuine (and very funny) lady I have ever had the pleasure and honour to meet. Sadly missies RIP Auntie Vena …

I have very fond memories of Vena stretching back to when I was a toddler ,when she was a daily visitor to our house, as the Gittons and Hayes were good supportive neighbor's, later I spent sometime as her "lodger" at Mirtloclik, which was truly a home from home. As my father who shared many a laugh and " jollyification with Vena would have said " THE LORD HAVE MERCY ON HER AND MAY THE LIGHT OF HEAVEN SHINE ON HER" as she is reunited with Mick, Bridie and Willie.

Possibly one of the nicest people I have ever met In my lifle took a lot of flak but she loved there Uncle Mck and she stood v her gourd by her man …
