I first met John when he arrived in St. Gerard's School in September 1953 and maintained
our friendship ever since then.

His dedication and loyalty to this Alma Mater was somethinrg to behold.

John spent countless hours researching Alumni and producing wonderful publications.

I can safely say that there was not a name he missed whether or not he actually met

the person.

I admired him greatly as he fought bravely when he was diagnosed with

such a terrible illness and an example to us all.

I shall miss him greatly and offer Clodagh and his family my condolences.

With sympathy

To Clodagh, Tara, Lee and all the Dillon family, my sincere sympathies to you all. John was a lovely person to know. He had a wonderful way with words, a great wit and a curious mind. We shared the same name, so we had great fun in the office with the shared confusion over which call or letter was meant for who. John was always encouraging and positive. A believer in all things could and should be better. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Lee, Clodagh and the wider Dillon family. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with John. I learnt so much about client service from him. The travel advice was also always appreciated. I still have the distinctive credit card with the smiley face and impolite latin phrase that he presented to the guests at his retirement lunch. It reflected his positive outlook and the importance of smiling. He took the same positive attitude to his diagnosis. His wit was unique While retired he remained in communication, especially on alumni matters close to his heart. Thinking of you at this sad time. May he rest in peace. Damian & Suzanne.
