It was Willie Stackpool from Colt GAA Club who relayed the sad news to me of the passing of Bosco Grant. Bosco was an integral part of the Colt GAA community for so many years. It was my privilege to serve for close on a decade as President of Colt GAA Club, the first non-Laois person to hold that honorary position and one that I will always cherish in such a special way. No AGM in Raheen Hall was complete without a few contributions from Bosco! Many were of the humourous variety and thrown in for a bit of divilment along the way! The family are synonymous with the Colt club over the years. It is so poignant how the word 'hurler' appears in brackets after his name on the death notice. Hurling was a way of life for Bosco and he was a proud bearer of that great south Laois hurling tradition that has been passed down through the generations. It has been one of my greatest privileges in life as a Mayo man to have had the good fortune to be associated with the great GAA community around Colt and Raheen. The passing of any of my great friends in this parish touches the soul in such a deep way. So many lovely tributes have been paid to Bosco and I would just like to add my own. He was some character. Deepest condolences to all the Grant family at this sad time. We'll not see his likes again.
