Deepest sympathies to the Flood family on the death of John,I only heard of his death today at another funeral,John was a great man for attending the Sodality in Merchants Quay and we missed him at the last meeting but we’re totally unaware of his passing,May his gentle soul R.I.P.

— Christy MC Donnell
I am so sad to have to add my condolences along with all the other expressions of regret about the death of John. Lovely, gentle and friendly go a long way short of giving the true picture of what a real gentleman he was. He had a kind word for everybody whose path he crossed and was a true legend on the Clontarf Bus Route for years. The roads around Dollymount have a groove worn in them from his pounding them every day to keep himself as fit as a fiddle and being younger than him I was jealous of his energy when I met him but always walked away from him with a smile on my face. We are all much the poorer for his passing but we are much richer in spirit for having known him. He was wonderful person and my family and I will miss bumping into him and getting his cheery hello.

I was greatly saddened and shocked to hear of John's passing. I was speaking to him only last week when he was out walking. I have known John for longer than I can remember, going back to his time as a Bus Driver. I was probably a teenager in the 1970's when I first got to know him and he was always unfailingly polite, courteous and kind to all. He will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to his family.
