Sincere condolence to Tony, Bernie and all the Gaffney family on the sad loss of John. May he rest in peace
— Helena Gordon & family
So sorry to hear of John's recent death. He was truly one of the best neighbours one could ever have. John and my father, Paddy Hanley, were the best of friends and neighbours for many years. I enjoyed many a great chat with John about our shared interest in 'The Dubs' and music. He was a man I always looked forward to meeting on my visits to 219. A real gentleman in every way. Heartfelt sympathies to the Gaffney family on their loss.

So sorry to hear of John’s passing.
Such a kind and caring man always putting others first. Such fond memories of you always with a song in your heart! A very long time ago you took the time and trouble to write to me with the words to the song “Streets of London” so I had a song in my heart to sing at family sing-a-longs, I’m so pleased I overcame my shyness to sing it the next time I visited Ireland, a real privilege to have known you John, thank you always, may you rest in peace.
