John was a true Gael and gentleman. He brought his Kerry wisdom to Monaghan and was a fantastic Monaghan GAA sec. for many years. We’ve lost a truly great friend, teacher, supporter, administrator par excellence! H never forgot his Ballylongford roots. He was a great support to me both in becoming President Gaa & when I was in Office. Could trust him with my life. Rest in peace John, a loach & a chara

I was shocked and saddened to learn of John's sudden death and would like to offer my sympathy to Geraldine and all the family.I got to know John in the late 60s and through the 70s while living and working in Monaghan. He was as deceptively fast and skillful on the football field as he was with his storytelling which entertained many on a night out! He had great energy and went on to use it to great affect in the educational system and the GAA in his adopted community in and around Monaghan and further afield. It was always a pleasure to meet him here and there but sadly that will no longer be the case.Rest in peace John.
