It is with great sadness that I heard the news of Jack’s passing. He was a champion of the community and visited our school initially to involve us in the ASH2020 celebrations.

Little did he know at the time, that he would become part of the Parent School Partnership which involves representatives from the local community. I also worked with Jack on the Green Space initiative and I look forward to his work and commitment to this coming to fruition at some stage soon hopefully.

He was a special person who we had the pleasure of working with in recent years - I may not have known him long but the joy and wisdom he contributed to our school community and to the local community is a testament to his great character and generosity of spirit. I will dearly miss our chats about how to make the world a better place. Our thoughts are with his family and his partner at this time.
— Jenny Byrne, Principal Ashbourne CNS

It was an honour to know Jack . He had much passion and ideas and wealth of knowledge and always worked towards supporting the community . People , community , coming together and the greater good of Ashbourne was the most important thing to him. His focus was always about getting a project done for the community and never about the glory of it. He was so loyal to his friends , never had a bad word to say about anyone. Hi Carole and family,
This is such dreadful news for you all and for anyone lucky enough to have met Jack. A powerhouse of ideas and great opinions and with such a broad knowledge, he was a HUGE help to myself and the rest of the Rath Lodge residents in all our estate and council-related dealings over the years. With his selfless work behind the scenes to get decent and fair social amenities in Ashbourne (e.g. the infamous public park), it was often difficult to catch him for a meeting or to get his very measured take on matters, his diary was always full. I was in awe of his energy. And optimism. I'm honoured to have met him, he's going to leave an enormous gap in Ashbourne (and on Earth) when he's gone.
I'm not in the country at the moment, all I can do is send you and yours my deepest sympathies.
Take Care.
— Dave McGinley
