To all the Hughes family please be assured that the great tall man that was John Hughes will be sadly missed and long be remembered for the gold hearted gentleman that he was. His annual airfield run for his unit was an example of setting the job aside for a few hours and focussing on the people who made the whole thing operate as we approached Christmas after a long years work. His support for the Lourdes Pilgrimage also was a cause celebre which he threw himself into annually and which benefited from his continuing support even after he retired. Rest easy John, job done.
