So sorry to hear about Johnny's passing. An incredibly kind and gentle soul. Will always remember heading out to Johnny's to practice with my very first band, and the interest and encouragement he showed us, despite the racket being produced. The thing that stands out to me is how, 20 years later, Johnny still remembered us practicing there, and would never pass without asking how the playing was going. I'm sure he will be remembered in a similar fashion by every musician in thurles. He was a pillar of the music community here, and an absolute gent. He will be sorely missed for sure. Condolences and love to Noel and the rest of the Dunne and extended family
— Padraig Ryan

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Johnny. He was not just a lovely gentleman; he was a beacon of positivity and an embodiment of the "glass half full" attitude. His love for music was truly inspiring, and his cool, laid-back demeanor made him an original cool dude in every sense.
I have so many fond memories of the evenings spent jamming out in ‘Studio 8’ at his house in Holycross. Johnny's passion for music and his incredible spirit created an atmosphere that was both creative and joyous.
There's no doubt in my mind that Johnny is now part of the great gig in the sky, spreading his musical talents and his infectious positivity wherever he goes. His presence will be deeply missed.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with Noel and all Johnnys family during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to Johnny's family. He was a great friend and an inspiration, not only in the field of music, but as to what it means to be a genuine human being. I will miss our conversations shared over many cups of tea, often passing long into the night. Always ready and willing to offer encouragement and support and never seeking something in return. Johnny will forever be an icon to many of us whom were privileged to have been graced with his friendship. Rest well my friend and I hope to feel your presence in the music!!
