He was always friendly , obliging and helpful and he endured his illness with courage and a positive attitude, despite the Covid epidemic making daily life increasingly difficult.He was a great sportsman and enjoyed playing music with the Sligo Adult Comhaltas group .He also enjoyed his walks in Strandhill or at Knocknarea right throughout his illness. John was the true embodiment of all that is really great in humanity and was a wonderful neighbour to us in Thornhill. He gave me my first summer job in the Western Wholesale, painting everything white. Dad was delighted to have a fellow Cavan man as a neighbour and I fondly remember some of the great debates they had about Cavan GAA. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.
