I was shocked and saddened to hear of John's untimely death. I was not aware that he had been ill. I was fortunate to have worked with John over many years in the NWHB and HSE where he was a trusted and supportive colleague and a committed public servant. While his extensive organisational and specialist knowledge informed his work, he engaged with others with empathy, humanity, and a quirky sense of humour.
