There are no words that can express how lovely Uncle John was. We loved talking to him even though he never understood Shawna’s accent and She certainly had no clue what he was saying. His relationship with Auntie Caitlin was definitely #relationshipgoals.
Our visits to Ireland were always full of laughter (except that one week when Shawna cried nonstop because She missed her mother who had gone travelling - sorry about that), but our most favourite memory was when he locked us up in a jail cell on one of our earliest visits to Ireland - that sealed him in our eyes as the coolest uncle ever!
We are so sorry for your loss and we thank God for all our amazing memories.
— Shawna, Allison, Josephine from Canada

John was a true gentleman, always in good form and a great friend and colleague to all who worked with him in An Garda Siochana.
It’s heartening to see his family carrying on the Garda tradition.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but more so by Caitlin and family.
May he Rest in Peace.
