My deepest sympathies Olive and condolences to all of John's extended family on the sudden loss of John. John was such a gentle, witty and intelligent man. Remembering the many adventures and chats about the outdoors that we shared with Voyagers CC - particularly dinner in Embrun on the final night of a trip to France in 2002. It was a privelege to have known John ... he will be truly missed.

I will miss your words of wisdom, your smile, your furry babies that always made us smile. Even though I only knew you on zoom it was 4 years of you keeping us focused. You always mentioned the importance of service in helping us grow. My heart broke at the news but you left us doing what you loved. You were always a power of example to me and many others. I am blessed for the opportunity to have known you. Your spirit lives on in my heart and I will miss hearing your wise words but have the memories of words spoken and for that I am eternally grateful. God bless your family during this sad time.
— Barbara
I'm very sad that I can't travel to say goodbye to John in person today.

Through my work with the late Brendan Bracken, I got to know John soon after I moved to Ireland in 2003 and instantly liked him for his authenticity, sense of humour, guidance and his trust and generosity in letting some fella from Iceland support him on his client work.

We stayed in touch in subsequent years but sadly the conversations became to few and far between.

Deepest sympathies to Olive and the family on John’s passing.
— Benedikt Valdimarsson
