John Joe and I were friends in Thurles CBS until he moved to Dublin after the 'Inter Cert' in 1962. Despite our best intentions we lost contact and didn't meet again until July 2005 at an open air concert in Malahide Castle featuring Andrea Bocelli.
John Joe was a lovely man, kind, generous and droll. He was a gentle man and a gentleman.
