So sorry to hear of John’s passing.

I remember back in Brentford around 1980 myself and Pat were playing football for Old Meadonians FC in Carville Hall park on a Saturday afternoon. Meads 9ths - we were that good!

John came to watch and ended up playing as we were short of players. My brother Denis found a spare pair of boots that were a size too small - but we convinced him they would stretch and he still played. Afterwards in the clubhouse he was limping around complaining about those bloody boots and that We’d stitched him up, as his feet were in bits - but he had a great laugh with us over a few beers.

It’s a fond memory of having many a laugh with John over a few beers back in the day in Brentford.

Condolences to all the Tonra family, Tom, Marie, Jacinta, Pat and Valerie.

May he rest in peace .
