John (Tony) Byrne

Our condolences to the Byrne family on the passing of their dad, grandad and great grandad. We met Tony at race meetings when he coached kids in kilnamanagh and Sundrive alongside our late father Mick Keenan. R. I. P. Tony.

So sad to hear of Tony passing, I have great memories of him coaching in Sundrive Park, he went above and beyond, and will be greatly missed. RiP Tony

I have lovely memories of Tony from many years ago in West Dublin AC. He was a gentleman and a brilliant coach, and always had us laughing when he regaled us with his wonderful stories while we enjoyed a cup of tea in the clubhouse after training.

Your tireless dedication of coaching the youth of kilnamanagh for the past five decades will never be forgotten. From the green and white of Kilnamanagh AC for the Community games in Mosney to the blue and yellow of West Dublin AC for the All Irelands' Countrywide. You were with us from Santry to the Phoenix Park to Tullamore and Nenagh , always encouraging and supporting us whether it was the gold medal for the relay or 34th place in the Cross country race, you always made us feel like winners.
You would never pass anyone by , always asking how we were and smiling that wonderful smile.
You will be sadly missed .

I saw Tony just days before he passed. He was out tending his garden and looked up as I came by, he smiled and said hello. I feel fortunate to have seen him that one last time.

Deeply shocked & saddened by this terrible news. Mr. Byrne was "Mr. Athletics" in Tallaght. Nobody did as much for track & field in their Community, than Mr. Byrne. Thinking of you all byrne family because when we have all been thinking about tony passing as our coach, hero , leader and all round person that we all wouldn't mind growing up to be like . He is still your father. Ive had alot of tears since the news more so thinking i just wanted to have 1 more conversation but the tears are for great memories. He made me mr reliable. Tony you simply proved the not all hero's wear capes . I love you so much and thank you for everything you done for me and your impact on many people's lives also.
