I had the pleasure of working with John for many years on the Bere Island Conservation Plan. A real gentleman, dedicated to improving island life and celebrating its heritage.

Was so shocked and sorry to hear about John's sad passing. Sincere sympathy to all his family. He was such a lovely, warm and wise man. It was so lovely to work with him on housing on the islands. He will be sorely missed by very many people.

We were so fortunate that John worked with us for nearly 20 years, where he accomplished so much with a positive attitude and a friendly smile. We will miss you John, Rest in Peace until we meet again.

We met again at a community meeting in the city a number of years ago and started chatting. John was the same person I remembered from our time in school, larger than life, down to earth with a broad smile. John will be missed. Take care.

I was really sorry to hear about John s passing. I had the pleasure of working with him when he represented the Island Communities on a review of Island Health Services. The report published in 2017 ( HSE)focussed attention on health services on Islands.
John was a gentleman, very influential and focussed the systems attention on something he was clearly passionate about. May he rest in peace .

I was very sad an shocked to hear of John's passing. I'd like to adress my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. I met John when I did an international traineeship at the Bere Island Projects Group in 2008. John took great care of me and all other students that went to Bere Islands before and after me. John's passing has shocked me and all the former Bere Island trainee's I contacted over the last few days. Even after all those years I still feel connected to Bere Island, not in the least because of the warm welcome and great time John made me have. Bere Island will surely miss this great ambassador. He won't be forgotten by the Dutch students that stayed on Bere Island.

It was a pleasure and an honour to work with John on island projects. A man with a huge heart and many a wise word. My condolences to all the family. Rest in Peace.

I was fortunate to draw on John’s experience and expertise in Ireland, Brussels and Sweden at COÉ & ESIN events, in particular regarding Island Education challenges and opportunities. Bere island ESIN AGM 2023 was memorable and a credit to John’s skills in bringing this prestigious international event to Bere Island.
