Sad to hear of Johnny's passing. I first met him back in the old pirate days in AMS Radio when he appeared behind me with a bag of cds. It wasn't long before the Madigan Mix would soon be followed by the Johnny Barry Show. We had a great team and listernship and Johnny was very popular both on and off the air. Over the years his huge love of country and Irish music has made him a household name and he deserved a lot of credit for making this music so popular. Rest easy my friend Johnny and enjoy your chats with Big Tom, Charlie Pride etc..

The passing of a legend of Irish Country Radio. He was known and loved across Ireland and beyond. I was privileged to have been friends with Johnny for 20 plus years. He presented awards at The Leinster Entertainment Awards in Kildare for me and was always ready to help out at shows in Kildare. Everywhere I travelled in the world that Kilkenny was mentioned the first question people would say is "Do you know Johnny Barry?".. Rest in Peace my dear friend
