RIP Johnny Fean and thanks for those awesome guitar riffs.
A legendary guitarist with the most under-rated band on the planet, years ahead of their time.
My parents introduced me to Horslips with Dancehall Sweethearts in the 1970’s – along with The Táin the greatest album I ever heard – every song is superb – their rendition of “King of the Fairies” still gives me goosebumps.
My sincere condolences to all the Fean family on the sad passing of Johnny.
May he Rest in Peace
— John Fitzsimons
Fabulous and treasured memories of horslips gigs from the rainbow Finsbury park, imperial college, craughwell village hall and on and on. Thank you so much Johnny. Deepest condolences to all your family and friends.

Johnny was an outstanding musician. I remember the day I went into Golden Discs after school with pocket money from a Saturday job, to get hold of "Happy to Meet, Sorry to Part" I still listen to it fifty years on; it's a magnificent and varied LP Record with a unique Sleeve. I have travelled to far away places to see Johnny and the Band perform their magic to captive audiences several times in the 1970's, always worthwhile, exciting and never ever a disappointment.

Sincere condolences to all of the Fean family for your loss of the wonderful talented Johnny.
— Bryan Lambert

I was deeply saddened to learn of Johnny's passing . I grew up in a home where I was weaned on Horslips music . The joy myself & my brothers got from listening to the albums night after night is one of my enduring memories . Escapism at it's finest from growing up in " the troubles " . Many joyful journeys to venues in Donegal & Monaghan and again in Belfast & Dublin when the musical masters regrouped. R.I.P. Johnny , I will treasure the memories & the music forever.
Deepest sympathy to Johnny's loved ones & the Horslips family everywhere . 💔
Love from a devoted fan in Tyrone 💙

My first of many many Horslips concerts was in Trim ‘75/76p ..parked in front of Johnny ... his cigarette wedged between the strings of his guitar during solos and the absolute wall of sound from the Marshall stack!!!!
