I enjoyed chatting to him about his boating memories on Lough Ree prior to our boat trip a couple of years ago. It was clear that his time spent on the water as a youth was a very special time for him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family. Sorry I’m a little late in adding this message.

Very sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. I met him several years ago when I was home from Boston visiting my sister Josephine Hallinan. The Memorial Service for him was wonderful to watch. A great man. May he Rest in Peace.

From the late 1970's on we all lived in each others ear for the best part of ten years as members of the IHGA. A club full of larger than life characters none more so than Johnny - a true renaissance man, adventurer, artist, lover of art and a beautiful ballroom dancer.
We were blessed to have had such an interesting, colourful and entertaining friend for so long and we will miss him dearly.
