Hil, Tim, Saoirse, Cian, and Dary, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Father, Father-in-law and Grandfather. I enjoyed chatting to him about his boating memories on Lough Ree prior to our boat trip a couple of years ago. It was clear that his time spent on the water as a youth was a very special time for him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family. Sorry I’m a little late in adding this message.

Very sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. I met him several years ago when I was home from Boston visiting my sister Josephine Hallinan. The Memorial Service for him was wonderful to watch. A great man. May he Rest in Peace.

I knew Johnny for less than a year and in that time was delighted to acquire a new friend. Over several long transatlantic phone calls we exchanged much of interest, of humour, and the stuff of memories for me to treasure over years to come.

I wish to offer my sincere sympathy to Emer and family on the unexpected death of Johnny. He will be sorely missed in MTC.

From the late 1970's on we all lived in each others ear for the best part of ten years as members of the IHGA. A club full of larger than life characters none more so than Johnny - a true renaissance man, adventurer, artist, lover of art and a beautiful ballroom dancer.
We were blessed to have had such an interesting, colourful and entertaining friend for so long and we will miss him dearly.

Emer saddened to hear of Johnny's unexpected passing. I have great memories of good times with the hang gliding crew. May he RIP.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal

Very sad news. I have so many memories as a young child of Johnny, staying on his boat on the Shannon, watching him hang-gliding, and sharing good times with Hilary and Paddy. He was a real character, full of adventure and humour. My deepest sympathies to all who knew Johnny, especially Hilary, Paddy and Emer.

Heartfelt condolences to Emer and family on Johnny's sudden passing. He certainly wore many hats and accomplished lots in his very full life. I cherish the wood turned cups he gifted to Dave many years ago that sit above our fireplace representing our family. Rest in peace Johnny fly high X

Johnny really enjoyed his tennis and was competitive. What often seemed a casual shot turned out to be an outright winner. He was always sincere and open in his thoughts, a real gentleman.
