To the husband, sons and extended family of Josaphine McNern I extend my sympathy and sadness at the news of her death. I think Josaphine and I may have been distantly related I am a Kinane descendent My great Grandmother was Catherine Kinane She came to Australia in the 1850s She was born in Cordangan Tipparary She married William Dunn who had come to Australia from Cork in Ireland. Catherine and William lived in Melbourne and Had 3 children the eldest Margaret Frances was my Grandmother.
Some years ago Josaphine and I connected through Ancestry, I think, and she provided me with some information about my Irish Heritage.
In 2014 we visited Ireland briefly. I had tried to organize a meeting with Josaphine but unfortunately it didn't work out We did however meet briefly with Martin Kinane at his Farm. Martin and I are cousins a bit removed.
Sorry to have never connected with Josaphine though
May God bless you all and give you peace
Sincerely Margaret Alexander Maclean NSW

Just learnt about Josephine's passing. Sincere condolences to her family. She was an avid poster of the Tipperary Genealogy group & always willing to help. May she Rest in Eternal Peace.
— Ann Marie O Dwyer
My sincere condolences to the McNern family. I only got to know Josephine in September/October this year connecting with her through our shared Kinane ancestors. Emailing from Australia to Ireland. Josephine wrote “Its 168 years since James and his family left Cordangan and here we are reunited at last!. I am delighted we are in touch and hope this will continue now for many years to come. I live in Donegal Ireland now but spent the majority of my childhood just up the road from where Daniel William Kinane was born back in 1841. My Mother is the Kinane . I must add that your Great Grandfather James is the stamp of my son, Cousins and extended cousins.. There is no argument that the Kinane facial features are strong”.
I was looking forward to travelling and meeting Josephine and her family. Josephine was so willing to share information and passionate. She mentioned to me that Cordangan is Kinane territory. That I have distant relatives still on the farms in Cordangan.

I hope family members stay in contact with me and can email me if they wish. I will treasure Josephine’s emails that she sent me.
Kind regards
Ric

So shocked to hear this sad news and our thoughts are with the whole family both in Ireland and the UK. Friends and neighbours past and present in Castle Park Road, Burton on Trent send hugs and condolences to all. Josephine was a kind and loving lady who took time to catch up with us on her summer visits over the years. Her sons are a credit to her and Paul’s love and care and she always spoke of them with such pride. I didn’t know about her interest in genealogy but a conversation we had this year about the various occupants of the houses on the estate where she spent her childhood obviously reflected this passion for people and the past. It was a pleasure to know you Josephine.
